Fashion and ego are a bit like peas and pods. One doesn’t really exist without the other. Eco is just as important as ego when it comes to fashion. Actually, dressing eco-ethically (translation: doing good by the planet and the people on it) amps up the feel-good factor that comes with a set of stylish threads. But here’s the rub: if you search for eco-ethical fashion, you’re more likely to uncover a pair of heinous hemp fisherman’s pants than a cute party frock or chic tailored pants. Which isn’t to say it’s not possible, it’s just a little tricky.
At least, it was until HowBigIsYourEco came along.
In reality, many of the labels you know and love—the ones creating fashion you actually want to be seen in—are doing little things behind the scenes to lessen the impact they have on the Earth. But unless you’re talking to the designers or scouring their press releases, you’re probably not up on it. That’s where HowBigIsYourEco comes in.
Working as a fashion editor for a national magazine, I did talk to the designers (and read the press releases). And I discovered that style and sustainability aren’t mutually exclusive. Hallelujah! HowBigIsYourEco is created for anyone who’s into style and the planet so that we can find a happy medium.
Want an all-Australian made wardrobe? Done. Fancy knowing that every piece you buy has benefited a charity of some sort? Easy. Ever hankered after a pair of sexy sequined hotpants whipped up out of sustainable materials? We know where to get them (for real!).
HowBigIsYourEco tracks the trends, showcases the labels and tells you what you (hopefully) want to know to look great and make the world a little better. Let us stroke your eco each season. You’ll like it, promise.
How big is your eco? Let’s find out.
…Welcome.

Sorry .. didn’t catch your name mate! Tip for the uninitiated cos you are obviously very new at this .. people need to relate to an actual person/s, who you are, an image is essential … you are new to our world and we don’t know who the heck you are but you seem to think we should ? Now thats what I call EGO!
Thanks for the tip, Belinda. My name is Matthew Paroz. But the fact that I prefer to use this site to promote designers and fashion labels rather than myself is hardly egotistical.
I certainly don’t assume that you know who I am—nor does it matter all that much if you don’t. What is important is that I have over a decade’s experience in the industry and I am using my well-established relationships with designers and PRs to bring you the information you see here.
I hope that now you know a little more about me, you will see that the labels we feature here speak for themselves.
Matt
Great to meet you Matt! I am more than impressed that you published my comment .. bravo! It’s not about promoting yourself, it’s about forming a relationship with your readers so that they will want to return to your site time and time again to hear what YOU have to say. You know how mags and glossies have a photo and a bit of blurb about their editors/writers etc?? Bloggers need that connection too. I think you actually might have something to offer Matt but your site looses a lot of credibility because of the abundance of Google ads and lets face it, they just look plain fugly and so not chic! The best of luck to you anyway!
I certainly intend to form a relationship with my readers but like all relationships this will take time to build. I’d hope that my personality will soon become obvious through my blogs and stories.
As for Google Ads, we are conducting a soft launch at this stage and testing all systems so this is only a temporary situation…you have found us in our infancy, so please be patient as we find our feet.
Matt
