BeautyBlog: Eco.Kid

Kids, eh? You raise them, provide for them, send them off to get an education and how do they repay you? By coming home crawling with hideous, itching parasites. The accepted way to kill the little suckers (the lice, not the children) is to nuke them with enough chemicals to sink a battleship.

Enter Eco.Kid… Australian owned and made (and sold in around 24 countries, thank you very much), they have a range of natural hair and body treatments free of silicone, sulphates, harmful chemicals, artificial colour and fragrance. Made up of EcoCert certified organic plant derived ingredients that are wild harvested, vapour distilled, biodegradable and indigenous to Australia, Eco.Kid products are technically edible, should the mood take you.

All Eco.Kid hair shampoos, conditioners and styling products contain plant elements and essential oils do all the usual detangling, cleansing bits, plus they are actually a turn-off to lice, making hair less susceptible to infection. For serious cases, Lice Bomb is the first 100% pure essential oil treatment around.

The skin range includes a ‘no-tears’ body wash, bubble bath, moisturiser and bug repellent. Although HowBigIsYourEco hasn’t sampled the Eco.Kids range, the argument for natural products for kids is a strong one, given that their skin is super sensitive and super absorbent compared to adults.
Child friendly, waterway friendly, lice not-so-friendly, Eco.Kid products (below) range from AUD$18.95 to $29.95 (or $60 for the Lice Bomb, shampoo, conditioner combo pack).
