BeautyBlog: Trilogy

So many great things come out of New Zealand—bungy jumping, Kate Sylvester, my buddy Dwayne…and Trilogy. This beauty company wears their ethics on their sleeve (or should that be skin?) and take a stance on a range of ethical and environmental issues.

The Trilogy of which they speak is: simplicity, purity and vitality. But it’s something the company takes beyond snappy marketing lines and seems to back it up with action. The company has been certified carbon neutral since 2007 by investing in alternative energy production projects—the first NZ beauty company to achieve carbon neutral status.

Sisters Catherine and Sarah created the company after they worked out how to extract the purest elements from Rosehip seeds—and beauty buffs will no doubt be familiar with the skin hydrating and repairing properties of Rosehip oil. Hence, Rosehip oil became the key foundation of the Trilogy range and the ladies source theirs via a fair trade operation in Chile (certified organic and all).

Elsewhere, it’s all about pure botanical extracts, clear labelling, minimal processing and synthetics and no genetic modification. Only ingredients that are certified organic by a third party are listed as such, all packaged up in nifty glass bottles printed with bio-inks…

And then there’s the fact that Trilogy is accredited by Choose Cruelty Free and supports a whole plethora of wonderful causes.

Best of all, Trilogy’s entire social and environmental philosophy—from how they measure their carbon neutral status to details of all materials used in packaging—are spelled out in detail on their website.

I don’t know what’s better: Trilogy’s integrity and transparency or their lovely products…
