Plant these on your face

Now here’s something you dont see every day (probably because it’s a world first)… sunnies made from plants. Dragon Alliance, out of California, first launched their E.C.O sunglasses last year but have expanded the collection to four pieces, on sale today. It’s always encouraging to see that labels who test the water with sustainable pieces invariably build on them as the seasons roll on.

As for Dragon, they’re a surf brand but the black aviator style is such a classic shape that would work even if your wardrobe falls on the less sporty side of the fashion spectrum. One of the label’s surfers, Rob Machado, initially egged the brand on to experiment with sustainable materials, so they did. The shades use all renewable plant-based materials as opposed to petroleum in conventional sunglasses. Presumably this accounts for the matte finish that adds a unique, modern feel.

As a cheeky little bonus, $5 from each pair sold in Australia goes to SurfAid. For stockists, call 03 5261 6660.

Time is running out to score over $500 worth of all-natural, Australian made cosmetics from Inika. Subscribe to HowBigIsYourEco before the end of March for your chance to win. Find out more
