Lane Palmer Green is the creation of mother and daughter duo Lane and Adele Palmer. From the outset, the label was conceived with an awareness of the environment. Design, materials and manufacturing are selected for minimal impact—hand made dresses and kaftans are hand-dyed using natural bark, leaves and flowers. Bags and accessories are created from sustainable, natural fabrics—hemp gladiator sandals, anyone? SS10-11 is only the label’s second collection but there is a confidence in their easy separates and crafty aesthetic. The brand’s philosophy is spelled out on the website and as they say “we’re not perfect, but we are certainly trying to practice what we preach”.

Lane Palmer Green is handmade abroad by craftsmen and women in “responsible factories”. The collection uses sustainable textiles including recycled PET, non-bovine (methane free), vegetable tanned leathers such as kangaroo and parrotfish, hemp, organic cotton and bamboo. Dyes are all natural. The distance a garment must travel is given consideration and where possible they are shipped—for what they describe as the “regrettable” use of airfreight, carbon is offset. Lane Palmer Green is currently looking to support an orphanage in Bali or Cambodia.
