Melbourne’s Arabella Ramsay launches into the spring summer season with her latest collection, This Side Of The Blue, new to stores. Ramsay’s quirky-cool aesthetic defies trends, seemingly plucking influences as she skips along her own path…one most likely lined with wildflowers and hay bales.
Try to pigeonhole this young talent if you dare.
There are elements of Americana in the country and western checks and denim cut-offs while she indulges her love of vintage with sweet ruffles and lace. Back on the farm, there is patchwork detailing and floor-skimming prairie dresses.
Ramsay’s rural roots are reflected in the way she re-uses and recycles prints and fabrics. Her denim quilt dress is precisely that: salvaged Levi’s and pre-loved bedspreads re-invigorated and re-imagined as a sexy, strapless dress.
It’s sweet to note that her collections often pay homage to her family. Last season, tees featured illustrations by her father, this time around, they are printed with images of quilts created by her mother.
