Been out of action for a couple of days and itching to present the latest from KissinCussin—and here it is, the Violets on Venus collection for spring 2010.
It’s my favourite collection from designers Jess and Hayley so far, as they take their flirtation with vintage to its pretty extreme… shirring abounds—you remember it, it’s that gathered and elasticised detail on the bust of the dresses from your childhood—and the prints that have become a signature include a botanical garden’s worth of delicate florals with geometric designs thrown in for good measure.
The girls are tripping back to the summer of love, citing the age of Aquarius as inspiration and it clearly shows in the carefree looks that just beg to be worn lolling about in a field of long grass as the sun saturates the senses. Think cropped sari tops, breezy maxi dresses and crisp summery white.
Kissin Cussin was born in the aftermath of the Tsunami when the girls (who are cousins, natch) helped to rebuild a Sri Lankan village and vowed to create work for the women who lived there. Hence, the collection you see before you.
How big is their eco? Take a look at the Kissin Cussin designer profile for more details and pictures from the new collection…
