Beauty in simplicity. That’s the Skin & Threads style mantra. Next to their clean, modern basics, designers Penelope Cohen and Emma Gathercole introduce softly tailored pieces. Luxe, natural textiles like linen, alpaca and cotton—organic and conventional—make up the bulk of the collection which adopts a typically classic palette injected with seasonal hits of vibrant colour. Simple lines are broken up with draped and gathered detail and there are chic scarves, beanies and shoes to complete the look.

All Skin and Threads fabrications are 100% natural and the label includes an organic capsule range (all organic cotton is certified). Local production accounts for 90% of the collection, with the remainder made in China via a third party to ensure “that our factories are ethical in their approach”. The business is developing an environmental policy but already implements measures like minimising travel, travelling carbon neutrally, using recycled paper, recycling all paper waste and employing green energy—not to mention that all swing tags and bags are 100% recycled. The Skin and Threads team donate five cartons of new clothing to the Salvation Army each year and sponsor the Breast Cancer Institute breakfast. They also provided clothing to the Victorian Bushfire Relief Fund.
